The final due date is June 15 at 11:59 PM HOL time. After this final date I am unable to accept any more homework.
In order to submit the work, please send your answers to [email protected] with the Subject “Dystopia - Assignment 4 - HOL Name”, replacing the 'HOL Name' with your own. For example, if I were turning homework in, the subject of my email would say "Dystopia - Assignment 4 - Elena Galatas". I would prefer that you submit your homework and extra credit in one email; I'd rather not have to sift through multiple emails as that can get incredibly confusing when trying to keep track of points. Please put your HOL name and house at the very top of the body of your email.
As stated before, there are more than 60 points available, but you will only be graded on the first 60 points submitted. If you rely on assistive technology or have any other needs that should be taken into account, please contact me right away, and we can discuss other options for certain parts of the assignments.
Please upload all graphics to an image-hosting site and send the link with your homework. Do NOT send your homework as an attachment or it will not be accepted!

Double Puzzle (20 points) Below is a scrambled list of many famous men and women throughout history; the Gladers and Icers were all named in honor of those people. That being said, there are extra names in the list. Being that it's not something found in The Maze Runner, I will tell you that the final quote is something said by Ava Paige in the final novel, The Death Cure. You may either send me a list of the names and the final quote or you may send me a completed photo; remember, all graphics need to be uploaded to an image-hosting site, and the link needs to be sent instead.

Essay Question (15 points) Choose one of the following questions to answer. All responses need to be at least 150 words in length. You may choose to answer more than one question; I will award 15 points per question.
Why do you think the Glade was only populated by boys until Teresa was thrown into the mix? What do you think the Creators intended the purpose of this to be?
"WICKED is good." This is something we see often throughout the series in general; the Creators often try to convince us of this the most. Given what the PFC and WICKED have done in the past and plans to do/is currently continuing to do, can WICKED really be considered a force of good? Are their actions justified? Make sure you talk about what the Gladers know about the Creators and WICKED. Given the state of the world after the Flare, can a positive case truly be made for WICKED?
Why did the Creators elect to erase the memories of the Gladers before sending them into the Glade?
Do you think Gally is the antagonist of this part of the series? Why or why not? If you don't believe he is, who is?
A Watchful Eye (20 points) Given how much information I gave on the first novel in The Maze Runner series, you have enough information now to be able to compare the novel to the corresponding film. Watch the first film and tell me what you think about it; using the 'book to film differences' page as a reference may help a bit if you haven't actually read the novels before. How does it compare to what you know about the novel? Is it fairly accurate? Is it just completely off-base? Does the casting work well? What would you have done differently? Are there any scenes you would have included that weren't? Any you would have left out? Keeping in mind that I left out a few things, feel free to include your reactions to these things as well.
In order to receive full marks, please write no less than 200 words.
Fallen Letters (20 points) The following is a quote from The Maze Runner film. I can't give you any more of a hint than that, but if you get stuck feel free to message me; I'll see if I can help somehow. You may either send a screenshot of the completed puzzle or simply send me the solution. If submitting a picture, please upload the photo to an image-sharing website and send the link.
Lions and Tigers and Grievers. Oh my! (15 points) This is one of those options for the artistic folk. Do a bit more research on Grievers and how they're described in the novels; if you have a good idea in mind from my explanation, even better. I suggest finding a copy of the book (there are plenty free copies online, if you need help feel free to message me!) the passage where Newt shows Thomas a Griever or when Thomas faces off against the Grievers in the Maze. Once you have an idea in your mind, let the creative juices flow! Either draw or create your own version of a Griever. How you choose to design this creature is up to you. Please include a 25-50 word description alongside your Griever image.
Remember, upload all photos to an image-sharing website and send the link. The graphic should be no larger than 600x600.
A Day in the Life (20 points) What would a day in the life be like in the Glade? Keep in mind there is a second Maze in play, so be sure to specify if you would be in Maze A (the one the boys are in) or Maze B. What job do you think you would have? Most newcomers work in the Garden in the beginning until they figure out what their strong suits are, so which job do you think would ultimately suit you best? Keep in mind not everyone can be a runner. Would you be on the side of the Gladers who would rather stay in the Maze or the group that wants to take a chance and get out?
It is up to you how you want to write this. It can be a few diary entries (maybe one from the first day, then further on, etc.), it can be a story, it could just be you talking about how you imagine your life in the Glade would be. There is no maximum word limit, but in order to get full marks please write no less than 300 words total.
