How should I label my assignments when I turn them in? In the subject line, you should type Dystopia – Assignment 1 (or whatever number you are turning in) – HOL Name. For example, if I were turning in homework number four I would type: Dystopia - Assignment 4 – Elena Galatas. Remember to put your full Name and House in the body of your assignment as well.
Where do I send my homework? You can send all assignments to [email protected].
Do you need an assistant? That will depend on exactly how many students sign up for the class. I'll update this once class sign-ups are closed.
Will you accept attachments? No, I will not. Everything needs to be in the body of the e-mail, and all images should be sent as links from an imaging host site; Imgur, Google Photos, Flickr, Dropbox, ImageShack, and Photobucket are some good, free image-hosting websites you can use.
How many points do I need to pass the class/earn a quill? You must earn at least150 points to pass the class and earn a quill for the semester. If you would like to keep track of your grades so far, all the points will be listed here!
Can I send the assignments in whenever I want? Yes. While there are suggested due dates for each assignment, there is also a final due date. With that final due date in place, you may send assignments in whenever you'd like so long as it is before the final due date.
Can I send half of the assignment now, and half later? Dear god, please no. Turning in a partial assignment only leads to confusion. You need to include everything you want to receive credit for in one e-mail. You will only be graded on what you send in.
Do I have to do all the assignments? No, but you need 150 points to pass the class. How you achieve said points is entirely up to you.
Are the assignments difficult? I don't believe so. If you ever have difficulty with an assignment, please feel free to message me. I'll help all I can without actually giving away the answers.
Is there any extra credit available? Yes! The first 30 points of the lesson will be considered 'assignment' work, while the last 30 points will be considered 'extra credit'.
Is there a term project? Final exam? There will be a term project, but it is optional. It will be available at the end of August/beginning of September, and you will have all semester to work on it. If you miss points throughout the lessons, the term project will be available to help you make them up. There is no final exam.
Can I earn more than 300 points for the term? Unfortunately no. I can only give a maximum of 300 points per term.
Can I have an extension? Given the fact that I have changed the due dates for the lesson to the last day of the semester, I sadly cannot offer any extensions. That being said, you will have all semester to turn in your assignments.
When will I receive my points? I generally try to award points as soon as I grade the homework that I've received. If you've gotten an email from me with a grade for your work, but have not been awarded points within a day or so please send me an HOL message or an email; it's likely that I thought I submitted them and did not.
How do I know you received the work I turned in? You will receive a confirmation e-mail stating the grade you received on the assignment once I have finished grading it. I will also be posting grades in the gradebook, and I will also try to post in the class forum area (in its own thread) which assignments I have received as I get them.
What if I didn’t receive my points after I received your confirmation e-mail? As stated above, if you have received a confirmation email and DO NOT see your name under the received assignments section or in the gradebook, please send me a HOL message or email and I will look into it. Similarly, if you do not receive a confirmation email within a week of submitting your homework, unless an announcement has been made, please send an email to [email protected] as well, and I will look into it.
Are there awards you can earn? Yes! These are the awards that you will be able to earn for this class:
The WICKED Award: Awarded to students who complete every assignment
The Divergence Award: Awarded to students who had the most creative assignments; this includes the term project
The Victor Award: Awarded to the top point earners of each house
If you have any other questions that haven't been answered here, please feel free to post in the questions thread in the class forum or send me an email or HOL message with your question, and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
